1.    1. Kaena Point State Park

Ka'ena is Hawaiian for "heat" and is found at the northwestern tip of Oahu's Ka'ena Point State Park. This spot is difficult to reach by foot and is filled with Hawaiian folklore. Legend has it that the lava shoreline on Hawaii's western tip is where Hawaiians would take their souls to the spirit world and meet their ancestors. Ka'ena Point is about an hour's drive from Honolulu's international airport at the Farrington Highway. Although it is not very crowded, some surfers come from all corners of the globe to ride huge waves. It is also a great place to snorkel as the water is calm, and it's easy to take your time. There is a wide range of marine life to explore, including Hawaii's state fish, called the humuhumunukunukuapuaa.

2.2. Shark's Cove

Shark's Cove got its name because the reef surrounding the Cove looked like a shark's body. This means you won't be afraid of encountering real sharks as you snorkel. Shark's Cove's unique marine life and rock formations beneath the surface make it one of Oahu's best and most exciting snorkeling spots. Scuba Diving Magazine distinguished it as one of the top twelve shore dives worldwide.

There are some sharp rocks within the Cove. It is recommended to wear reef shoes and fins. The waves are strong in winter, from November to February. So it's best to snorkel during the summer months. Sharks Cove is found along Oahu's northern coast via the Kamehameha Highway.
